Disney Gargoyles: Awakening

I’ve had the honor of working on a lot of different projects, but my time on Disney Gargoyles: Awakening with the team at Ravensburger was one of those rare opportunities where I got to wear almost every hat possible. From art direction to production, illustration, 3D modeling, rendering, and even layout design—this project really let me dive in deep. And honestly, that’s what made it so rewarding.

One of the best parts was being involved in the development process as a play tester. Getting to sit down with the game, give feedback, and collaborate with the incredibly talented developers was an honor. It’s rare that a project allows you to touch so many different aspects of the creative process, and this one let me do just that. It was a true team effort, and seeing the final product come together was incredibly fulfilling.

If you’re a fan of Gargoyles or just love immersive board games, Disney Gargoyles: Awakening is worth checking out. Whether you’re reliving the animated series or discovering it for the first time, I think you’ll find it as exciting as we did creating it.

One area I don’t often get to explore is product design, but my skills in 3D modeling and rendering opened the door for me to do just that. I got to work on things like designing the game’s movers, which was a unique challenge. Plus, the game board is made up of 3D buildings that players need to assemble, so I tapped into my structural knowledge to create clear, easy-to-follow instructions. I even modeled step-by-step visuals that make setup a breeze, ensuring players can jump right into the action without getting bogged down.

Illustration isn’t something I typically offer, but when the team was looking to add more depth and detail to the packaging and the cards, they asked if I’d help. After discussing the direction they wanted to go, I realized it was right in my wheelhouse. It gave me the chance to use my personal style, which was an unexpected but exciting opportunity. Being able to inject my own touch into the visuals made the work even more special for me.
