Project Zanzibar

Pushing the Boundaries of Play

Project Zanzibar was an incredible opportunity for me to collaborate with the brilliant minds at Microsoft Research for a month. My role on the project was to dive deep into research, brainstorming, and ideating around innovative product concepts and play patterns—specifically in the gaming space. I spent my time exploring new possibilities for play, both physical and digital, which really pushed my creativity into some fascinating directions.

Throughout the project, we focused on creating unique and engaging play experiences in areas like early learning & development, digital playsets, kinetic play, co-located play, open platform gaming, and immersive play. It was a whirlwind of ideation, with ideas flying in from all directions, leading to some truly inspiring proof-of-concept products.

Though I can’t share the specifics of what we created just yet, the entire experience really reinforced my passion for blending technology with play. The idea of using tech to bring more immersive and interactive play experiences to life is something I think will shape the future of gaming.
